The Best People I've Met In-Game

Someone had this idea in the 'weirdest' post, and I thought mine would make a good starter, so here's the story:

I have been in the same kinship, in different games, with one married couple for around five or six years. We had never met face-to-face until this April when they gave me a place to live, free of charge, while I looked for a job to replace the one I lost to a layoff after eight years; but it gets better.

I have a chronic health problem that finally forced me to apply for Social Security Disability benefits this September, after three weeks in the hospital. Suddenly, after having found a job and nearly rebuilding my financial life from the ground up (I didn't accept the offer from the friends I'd never met until my unemployment insurance had run out), I was unemployed again, and facing a six month wait for disability benefits. I could work part time during the application and approval process, but the restrictions prior to approval make it nearly impossible to be hired.

I thought I was done for, and bound for the nearest shelter or street corner in a state I'd just been in for five months, until I was rescued by my guild again. The people who gave a home to someone they had never seen are now paying my rent, my car payment, and my insurance. It's all loans, and I fully intend to repay every penny, but that's not the point. The point is that they're doing it. I never asked for any of this, not even once. They offered. Yes, I know that hardly anyone is like that; and yes, I know that there are a lot of freaks out there, but not these folks. They are the real deal, and they have restored my faith in people. They aren't rich - no lottery millions with nothing to do here - they are just that way. They are worth every minute I've spent trying to find the right way to word this and more.

So the next time you're thinking of giving it up because the world is going to pot, think of my kinship, my friends. True examples of the best the world has to offer, and they are gamers.
