Your First MMO ExperienceI will always remember my first MMO experience and I suspect most players also have similar stories or fond memories.
I had purchased Asherons Call thinking it also had a solo/stand alone game play option and was not entirely an online game. Once I read thoroughly the game information I realized it was entirely online only and was really bummed out. I planned on taking the game back to the store and exchanging it for something else. At that time you had a two week grace period to return software and real life events caught up to me and I missed my two week window for returning the game. I figured, well, I can't return it anymore and it has a one month free play period, I may as well load it up and see what it is like.
I stepped into the game world and was immediately pleased with the graphic environment and ease of initial gameplay. But it was seeing other players running around that started to pique my interest. After fumbling around and learning the controls another player came over and started to talk to me and asked if I needed any help. That was the moment I was hooked. Real players and real interaction was something I had never experienced before. It was like I had stepped into a living breathing world. I called my friends who are scattered around the country and urged them to give it a try. It was a way for all of us from California to Pennsylvania to Florida and Tennessee could get togther and play.
We have never looked back. I am so glad I missed that two week window for returning software!
So if you see some new player running around, think about saying hello or asking if they need help. It may just be the event that provides a new player with that magic moment.
